Many deciduous trees can be pruned during dormancy, but important exceptions mean that winter is not suitable for every species. Some trees are better pruned in warmer months. The scale of the proposed work, weather and wildlife constraints also matter. An assessment should establish an appropriate time rather than applying one seasonal rule to every tree on a commercial site.
