Can trees be planted in summer?

Summer planting needs careful planning because the new root system has limited access to moisture in the surrounding ground. A commercial site must have someone responsible for checking soil moisture and providing water when needed. Bare-root trees are normally planted during dormancy. Where aftercare cannot be maintained, delaying planting until cooler conditions may give the project a better start.
