Small planting stock may need little support, while larger or exposed trees can need suitable staking or anchoring. Ties should allow appropriate movement and avoid rubbing or constricting the trunk. Guards may help where wildlife or other damage is likely, but also need checking as the tree develops. Supports and protection should be removed when they are no longer required.
